PolySwarm Threat Bulletin
THIS THREAT BULLETIN IS PROVIDED FOR SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
Background
This report is part of our ongoing coverage of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and cyber implications.
PolySwarm recently released the following publications and blog posts discussing Russia-Ukraine tensions and the potential for both kinetic and cyber conflict:
- Russia-Ukraine Conflict and Cyberwar Implications
- Armageddon Activity Targeting Ukraine
- US and European Banks Fear Russian Cyber Attack
- DDoS Attacks and New Wiper Malware Target Ukraine
A day after unknown entities launched a cyberattack on Ukrainian assets, Russia seems to be experiencing a cyberattack as well. Reports state multiple Russian government websites, including the official Kremlin website, were unavailable early on February 24th. Further details were not made publicly available.
Potential Threats to Russian Critical Infrastructure
Russia’s National Computer Incident Response & Coordination warned Russian critical infrastructure entities of the “threat of an increase in the intensity of computer attacks” and said any perceived failures of critical infrastructure systems are likely the result of a cyber attack.
POLYSWARM WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE SITUATION AND PROVIDE UPDATES ON SIGNIFICANT CYBER EVENTS IN THE REGION.
